The Nursing Needs of Severe Stroke Patient and their famili caregiver in Community
Lee Young-Hee

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the nursing needs for severe stoke patient and their family caregiver in rural community.
The participants of this survey were 61 severe stroke patients and their family caregivers. The results of this study was summarized that the severe stroke patients were helped almost ADL(activity of daily living) by their family caregiver because their physical and cognitive function level was low. The severe stroke patients caregiver was their husband/wife, son, daughter etc, but most family type was husband and wife or living alone, and there was no social support except family to provide care. Besides the caregiver themselves was old(their average aged 64), and they work to solve their livelihood in community. and the socioeconomic status was low.
The main problem is the caregiver themselves also(80%) patient. they were suffered from comorbidity like hypertension, DM, osteoarthritis and vascular disease.
Because the patient¡¯s low economic status they can¡¯t access to medical service, can¡¯t keep a helper to care the stroke, so patient and their family¡¯s nursing needs were very high. Most of them(90.1%) was gloomy, depressed,
A plan to intervene for their nursing needs by public health plan, as like Health Center to make use of public nurse and Primary Health Nurse in community would be a effective solution for them.
